ABOUT MARK

Mark Darling is a registered psychologist with a background in the disability field, having worked with Disability Services Queensland and as Paediatric Resource Project Coordinator for Queensland Health prior to an extensive stint in private practice.

With a broad range of family life experience including mental health issues, complex trauma, autism, disability, international adoption, dementia, and the vitally important but often unnoticed role of the carer, Mark is passionate and well equipped to assist people in negotiating their own unique areas of concern. He particularly resonates with those who have experienced anxiety, stress, trauma, and burnout, not merely as an aloof observer, but rather as a fellow traveller who has walked that well-worn path.

Mark is a trained practitioner of EMDR, a modality used to assist those with PTSD and related trauma conditions and has also been involved in the neurofeedback field for more than 20 years. He is recognised as the pioneer of remotely monitored home-based and school-based neurofeedback in Australia, having developed a number of remote brain-training programs for individuals and schools, including a neurofeedback pilot project at Hervey Bay Special School that resulted in a 64% reduction in autistic behaviour in the classroom in one school term.

The Hervey Bay program won the 2004 Showcase Award for Excellence in Innovation (Education Queensland Regional Winner) and the 2005 Commonwealth Award for Outstanding National Achievement in School Improvement (Federal Department of Education and Training). He has also trained psychologists, neuroscientists, counsellors, educators and other professionals throughout Australia in the use of neurofeedback, as well as providing online supervision for neurofeedback practitioners in Australia and overseas.
